Shri Om Shrivastava is well for his association with Astha Training Centre. His professional interests have always been Training at all levels on people participation and participatory development, Adult Education, Participatory Training, Evaluation of adult education and development projects,       Development of Non-formal Education, Integrated Rural Development,            Rural women's education and development and Development of University Adult Education as a discipline.

Some of his prominent activities are:

• Work with a team of trainers to produce a set of manuals "Participatory training for Development" Published by out of Africa Publishers (1998) for Development workers of Namibia, South Africa, Kenya, TanzaniaUgana.

• Worked as a consultant to international organizations such as SNV Nepal, Bernard Van Leer Foundation, Netherlands, German Foundation for International Development, Germany, SIDA-PAHAL Project, India, CARE India, etc. On People's Participation, Adult Learning Processes, Rural Development (1994).

• Acted as chief trainers in a training programme on Non-formal education and participatory training to senior educator in the Ministries of Vietnam and Mangolia (1993).
